First the wood is selected and cut manually.
This stage begins in the furnaces. If the traditional craft furnace is used, the process is carried out in the open air. First the wood is stacked and covered with straw and earth; then the wood is allowed to slowly burn for 10 to 12 days until it becomes coal. For every 4 tons of firewood used, 1.5 of charcoal are obtained.
Once obtained, the charcoal is extracted from the furnace and taken to the profit centers where it is selected using machines or manually; later it is packed in polypropylene bags of 15 or 20 Kg.
